Two legal instruments signed by Francis Foxcroft, May 12, 1721.

Two folio-sized leaves containing handwritten copies of two 1721 legal instruments signed by Francis Foxcroft, Register of Deeds for Middlesex County, on May 21, 1721. The first document records the receipt of a bond paid by Benjamin Holmes, as administrator of his father's estate, for forty pounds to William and Mary Bartol on December 11, 1719. The second document is a one-page deed, dated February 18, 1720/21, between Charles and Sarah Johnson of Marblehead and Sarah Johnson's brother, Benjamin Holmes of Salem, granting to Holmes all of the property belonging to their late father John Holmes.

Francis Foxcroft, a judge and longtime member of Harvard's Board of Overseers, was born on January 26, 1694/5 to Colonel Francis Foxcroft and Elizabeth Danforth Foxcroft. He attended Harvard College and graduated with the class of 1712. Following graduation, Foxcroft kept school in Beverly, Massachusetts for several years and considered entering the ministry, though he never did.
